• Monitor database growth for future capacity planning
• Database monitoring/housekeeping e.g. ensure extents do not exceed max extents, ensure tablespaces have sufficient space for any growth of data in the system, etc.
• Monitor disk space on servers
• Monitor all scheduled concurrent jobs typically ie. Workflow Background Process, Gather Schema Statistics, Synchronize Workflow LOCAL Tables, Purge Obsolete Workflow Runtime Data, Purge Debug Log and System Alerts, Workflow Control Queue Cleanup
• Ongoing monitoring of the system during the day, this will typically include….
- Looking out for any long running jobs (i.e. jobs running for longer than 60 minutes)
- Be notified when any of the oracle services (i.e. Forms, Reports, Concurrent Manager, Discoverer, APPS listener, Apache, Workflow Notification Mailer) go down
- Look out for disk space running low
- Watch out for tablespaces running low in space
- Check that extents in database are not reaching the max extents
- Keep an eye on the Temp Tablespace (do not allow any queries to exhaust this space)
- Monitor locks on database and cleanup where necessary

2. Other Tasks include…
• In the absence of a System Administrator, monitor all open TAR’s logged with Oracle
• Assist all functional staff with TAR’s e.g. running diagnostic scripts to gather information where necessary
• Apply all patches to PROD
• Be the sole custodian of the APPS password
• Change APPS and module passwords on a regular basis to ensure security
• Define printers on Operating System before they are defined in Apps
• Clone the development environment from PROD on a regular basis (ie once a month preferably after the payroll has run)
• Responsible to investigate and resolve any performance issues on the ERP System
• Assist where possible with the Financial Month-End process
• Assist where possible with the HR Payroll process
• Assist with problems with regard to Jinitiator and / or ADI client installations
